The Bulgarian National Access Point (NAP) is a central digital platform that brings together information about all modes of transport in Bulgaria - buses, trains, trams, metro, taxis, shared vehicles, bicycles, and cars. The platform is developed in accordance with Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/1926 and follows international NAPCORE standards.

About the Platform

NAP is built in full compliance with Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/1926 of 31 May 2017 supplementing Directive 2010/40/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to the provision of EU-wide multimodal travel information services.

The platform supports NAPCORE specifications, GTFS & GTFS-RT, NeTEx, DATEX II, SIRI, and mobilityDCAT-AP standards.

Available Data

Static data for planning

National road network and railway infrastructure, schedules for all types of public transport, access nodes (stops, stations, airports, ports), tariff information and ticket purchase methods, bicycle and pedestrian networks, parking (including Park and Ride), electric vehicle charging stations, refueling stations (CNG/LPG, hydrogen, gasoline, diesel), and infrastructure accessibility.

Real-time dynamic data

Delays and cancellations, actual arrival and departure times, estimated travel time, road events (closures, diversions, accidents), weather conditions on roads, parking availability, charging station status, node functions, traffic and road network load.

How does NAP work?

1. Data Collection

The system accepts data through automated integration (API push/pull), manual file upload (GTFS, NeTEx, DATEX II), and web interface for manual input.

2. Processing and Validation

Metadata checking against mobilityDCAT-AP standard, data validation against specifications, format conversion, and enrichment with geographic coordinates.

3. Publishing

Data catalog with metadata and links, RESTful API for machine access, web portal for search and browsing, and GIS visualization with different data layers.

4. Usage

Mobile applications for trip planning, information services integration, MaaS platforms, and access to historical and statistical data for analysis.

For developers: Register on the portal, download documentation, obtain an API key, and test in the sandbox environment.

For operators: Submit a registration request, receive approval, configure integration, and publish your data.
